“بيت أخضر” هي سلسلة من أفلام التحريك التي استوحاها مروان الجمل من القصص الملحمية. يتضح من خلال تلك السلسلة تأثر مروان بالمخطوطات الإسلامية والأنماط المصرية القديمة، فضلاً عن شغفه بالأفلام المعاصرة والعروض التليفزيونية والألعاب الرقمية والقصص المصورة. ذلك الخليط في أعمال مروان عادة ما يثير الفضول ومشاعر بالانفصال عن الواقع المحيط والحنين لواقع أخر.
“بيت أخضر” هو اجتماعاً قد يبدو مألوفاً لأشياء غير متجانسة تتحول باستمرار وتتطور بدون عقبات. حيث تتظاهر الشخصيتين الرئيسيتين بالظهور للعلن كما لو أنهم ليسوا من الوافدين الجدد، لا شيء يحيرهم، يمرون بأحداث مختلفة مع ابتسامة لا تفارق وجوههم… كل شيء يبدوا منطقياً بالنسبة لهم حتى وإن كان غير ذلك بالنسبة لنا. ولدوا كبالغين، يتشاركون منزلاً حيث قمم الجبال في متناول أيديهم، وحيث يقسم البحر الهائج طاولة إفطارهم، أسقفهم مزودة بأذرع طويلة تشير أصابعها الى ما هو أعلى من النخيل. تجمعهم رؤيا ويأتيهم مندوباً ليرشدهم صعوداً الى خمسة عوالم.
خلال رحلتهم يصادفون نقاط مكانية متتالية وآلات وكيانات، حيث تتخذ المفاهيم أشكالاً تلهمهم بخصائص ودروس جديدة. من خلال مكعب أحمر معزول ورعشة الضباب الأزرق في الفراغ، والمنشور الثلاثي الذهبي والتفكيك الميكانيكي للشكل X، ونثر زهرة لا حدود لها، يتبدلون طردياً مع كل تطور الى الأبد – أو ربما لا يتغيرون في نهاية الأمر.
إنهم يحققون هدف حياتهم المبهجة والمتوقعة في نفس الوقت، حياة يمتد خارجها الفراغ كذراع آخر يمسكون بها للوصول إلى ما وراء الشمس أو في مكان ما بجانب غرفة المعيشة.
مروان الجمل
مواليد ١٩٩٠، الجمل فنان مصري حصل على الماجستير في التصوير من معهد فرانك مور في خرونينجن، هولندا. كما حصل علي البكالوريوس من الجامعة الأمريكية بالقاهرة ٢٠١٢. تمتد ممارساته بين وسائط مختلفة كالتصوير والرسوم المتحركة والنصوص. وعرضت اعماله في مصر وهولندا.

Inspired by epic stories, Marwan Elgamal created the animation “A Green House”. Visually influenced by Islamic manuscripts and ancient Egyptian aesthetics, as well as by contemporary movies, shows, games and comic books, his animations evoke curiosity, estrangement and nostalgia.
“A Green House” is centered around the theme of constant transformation, a transcendence without trial, a familiar meeting with things unknown. It is a pretence where the two main characters accept unfoldings, as if they are not newcomers, nothing baffles them, taking in the events with an interminable smile, everything makes sense to them when it shouldn’t. They are born as adults, they share a home where the peaks of mountains on the horizon are in hands’ reach, a confounding splitting sea is at their breakfast table. The roof of their house is given arms extended and brought together at the palms with fingers pointing upward. They are met with a vision and a delegate descends to usher them upwards, on and on, into five realms.
During this journey they come across alternate spatial points, machines and entities, where concepts have taken form, and that seem to imbue them with novel characteristics and lessons. Through the red desolate cube, the tingling blue mist of the sphere, through the lustful golden prism, in the mechanical unravelling x, through the dispersing boundless flower. They become altered with each development until they are endlessly evolved – or have not changed in the least. They are fulfilling their life goal, it is exhilarating and expected at the same time. A life where the void extending beyond their limits is another arm to grab hold of, where the farthest distance is beyond the sun or somewhere next to the living room.
Marwan Elgamal
Born in 1990, Elgamal is an Egyptian artist. He received his MFA in Painting at the Frank Mohr Institute in Groningen, Netherlands, a BA from the American University in Cairo, Egypt in 2012. His interdisciplinary spans painting, animation and text. His work has been exhibited in Egypt and Netherlands.
